MICHIGAN FOOTBALL season-high 10 passes in the opener against Utah and have remained a go-to target for grad-senior quarter- back Jake Rudock, catching at least five combined balls in four of seven games. The tight ends led all position groups in receptions against Or- egon State (seven) and Northwest- ern (seven), and had highs in yards against the Beavers (80), BYU (97) and Wildcats (88). Though he falls under the running back category, playing the H-Back role that shares most traits with a fullback, redshirt sophomore Henry Poggi works with Harbaugh, too, and he has impressed the tight ends coach with his blocking acumen. "He makes it really easy on you as a coach," Harbaugh said. "He has tremendous football instincts. Things come really naturally to him. He doesn't have to see things too many times, has a good sense of how things should look and feel, and is a tough, physical guy. "Just by his nature he tends to do things right. It's just a matter of tweaking and correcting certain things. He's a blast to work with. The ceremony will take place Dec. 30 in Pasadena, two days before the 102nd Rose Bowl. Wheatley will be joined in this year's class by Brown running back Fritz Pollard, Washington quarter- back Mark Brunell and Rose Bowl media director Jim Muldoon. "We are thrilled to announce the inductees for this year's Hall of Fame class," Tournament of Roses director Bill Flinn said. "These four individu- als represent the wide range of tal- ent we've associated with our game through the years, and we're honored to add them to our distinguished list of Hall of Fame inductees." One of three Wolverines in school history to rush for 1,000 yards or more in three seasons (Jamie Morris, 1984-87, and Mike Hart, 2004-07, are the others), Wheatley played in Rose Bowls his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
