FROM OUR READERS were the best-looking (along with Auburn) road jerseys in all of col- lege football. Michigan is poised to do great things in upcoming years and should look great doing it! Keep up the great work at The Wolverine! Kevin G. Smith Orange, Calif. Thanks, Kevin, but I wouldn't hold your breath on the Irish and Wolverines not meeting again. There are a few folks of influence who would like to see it hap- pen. • I was at 8-4 at the beginning of the season. My optimism was way up after the three consecutive shutouts, but perhaps my original call was the correct one. They'll be underdogs vs. Ohio State, and consider the following: most Michi- gan seasons (going back to Bo) have had a loss to a team there's no way they should lose to. I'd say there's a greater than 50 percent shot that there's a loss lurking to Minnesota or Penn State, even though Michigan (on paper) ought to beat them every time. oakapple • We're going to win the next four. Too soon to tell our chances of beating OSU. I'm hoping our offense continues to improve, but if a fifth-year senior goes this far in a season without hitting deep balls when they are there — there's a reason. Our improvement is going to have to come in the run game and on short throws. Cal Varnsen • Like Las Vegas, I began at 7-5 and a decent bowl game. Prior to the Sparty game, I admitted that I was wrong and thought that 10-2 was a distinct pos- sibility and a even a berth in the B1G championship game was possible. Now I'm pretty much at 9-3. What's turning out new is what I most feared — that our offensive line would not have made the dramatic progress needed to overcome a pedestrian rush- ing and passing game. It's turning out that our OL is somewhat improved but still just as average as the rest of the offense. With that in mind, nine wins would be a fantastic achievement for this coach- ing staff with this roster of holdover players. Having said all that, I would have been overjoyed with nine wins before the season started. Nine wins will really send the message that Michigan Is Back! Blue Kahuna From Our Website
