The Wolverine: How would you evaluate the play of your three goalies this year? Shields: "I think they're working hard. They want to be better than they are, which is great, because you have to want to get better on a daily basis to com- pete at this level and make a difference at this level. So far they're doing that. "Where they end up is up to them, because as you see, they're all getting a chance to show everyone what they can do. Ultimately, they will decide how big a role they play for this team and how they impact the team's performance this year." The Wolverine: What do your goalies have to do to work through the soft goals they consistently give up? Shields: "You can't coach it out of them. They have to replace older habits with new, better habits for what you're doing. "These guys are trying to focus harder and longer, and really have that belief in themselves for 60 minutes, and we'll see what happens as the season goes along." — Michael Spath Getting To Know Junior Forward Alex Kile Junior forward Alex Kile has tallied four goals and seven assists, for 11 points, in 13 games through Dec. 8. He is on pace for a career-high 33-point campaign. Nickname: "A.K." Role Model: "Growing up in Detroit, I always idolized Steve Yzerman, captain of the Red Wings, and hockey-wise he's always been my biggest role model." Favorite TV Show: "'Entourage.'" Netflix or Amazon Prime: "Netflix. Over the summer, I watched a lot of 'Parks and Recreation.' It's a very funny show." Last Movie He'd Give A Thumbs-Up To: "'Unbroken.' I saw it recently and it's about a prisoner of war in World War II, and I thought his story was really incredible." Best Meal He Can Make: "Probably pasta. I don't cook a lot. In the spring and summer, we're forced to cook more because we're out of season and I make buttered noodles."
