someone that's extremely difficult to replace next year," Sullivan said. "A guy like him isn't really replaceable, but we're hoping guys will grow, im- prove and take over that kind of role. "We lose a number of other key contributors heading into next year, too. We'll have to rely on some younger guys as we head into next year and see what happens." Sullivan acknowledges that the team will enter next season with a bit on uncertainty. "We lose two of our top five scor- ers, and that's not insignificant," Sullivan said. "We'll continue to see guys improve, and we'll definitely need to rely on somebody in the freshman or sophomore class this year to be in our top five. "I feel like we have the guys here to do that, but at this point it's too early to really say if we'll take a step forward or backward. We probably won't know that until August or September next year when we re- ally see what we have and where we are." Women's Cross Country With their sixth-place finish, the women's runners earned their 12th top-10 placement at the NCAA Championships, including the 11th under head coach Mike McGuire. "We started a little more under the radar with a No. 12 national rank- ing early in the season," McGuire explained. "We worked our way up as the season went along and had a little bit of a hiccup at the Big Ten meet, finishing second. Senior Mason Ferlic wrapped up his career by placing second at the Big Ten meet and win- ning the Great Lakes Regional before running at the NCAA Championships for the fourth time.
