INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS SIOBHAN HAUGHEY SECURES SWIMMING HONOR Michigan features some talented young swimmers on the women's side, and freshman Hong Kong native Siobhan Haughey ranks among the best. The Big Ten named her Co-Freshman of the Week Dec. 9 for her recent ef- forts. Haughey experienced a big weekend in Federal Way, Wash., at the AT&T Win- ter National Championships. She swam in four different events for Michigan, finishing among the top dozen contestants in each of them. She managed a bronze medal effort in the 200-meter freestyle, touching the wall in 1:58.48. Her other events featured a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter individual medley (2:13.20), seventh place in the 100-meter freestyle (55.00) and 12th in the 50-meter freestyle (25.70). Three of Haughey's finishes represented Michigan long course (meters) re- cords — the 100-meter freestyle, the 200-meter freestyle and the 200-meter individual medley. She posted 46.50 points, eighth best for a women's swimmer at the event. — John Borton 2 & 4 The rank of Michigan's games against Michigan State and Ohio State in the "most tweeted about games in the college football regular season" according to data collected by SI.com. 5 Fall sports teams among the seven competing that made the postseason: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, volleyball and football.
