He passed for 3,103 yards and 37 touch- downs with just five interceptions and led Avon to its first regional champion- ship in a decade. He also scored three touchdowns on the ground. The 6-4, 195-pounder is a first-team all-state selection this year and will play in the 2016 U.S. Army All-Amer- ican Bowl. Peters has maintained a 3.5 GPA and is an accomplished basketball player at Avon. He has also volunteered as a youth football coach in the past and was part of a community cleanup ef- fort after bad storms. The last time Michigan landed two Gatorade State Players of the Year was just one recruiting class ago. In 2015, the Wolverines landed a pair of quar- terbacks that both won the award. Albuquerque (N.M.) Eldorado pro- style passer Zach Gentry achieved the accolade after passing for 2,978 yards and 26 touchdowns, while adding an- other 1,057 yards and 22 scores on the ground. Off the field, Gentry main- tained a 3.58 GPA in the classroom and volunteered locally as a youth mentor and a youth football coach and coun- selor.
