BIG TEN HONORS PAIR OF WOLVERINES Michigan juniors Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton Jr. were honored with All-Big Ten selections from both the league's coaches and me- dia, announced March 7. Walton was named an All-Big Ten third-team se- lection by the coaches and garnered honorable mention honors from the media, while Irvin was an honor- able mention selection from both the coaches and media. Senior Caris LeVert was the Wol- verines' representative on the Big Ten's Sportsmanship honoree list. Walton, a Big Ten All-Freshman honoree in 2014, earned his first all-conference honor. He started 28 games, missing three games due to a sprained ankle, and led the Wolver- ines with 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. He posted a team-best four double-doubles, in- cluding the program's fifth overall triple-double after posting 10 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists against Youngstown State Dec. 19. Irvin also received his first all- conference selection. He came back following a back procedure per- formed this summer to start 29 of his 30 games played and averaged 11.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and a career- best 3.1 assists per game. Walton and Irvin led Michigan to a 20-11 overall regular season re- cord, helping the Wolverines post their 27th 20-win season in U-M his- tory and sixth in the head coach John Beilein's nine-year tenure. Irvin also made the Big Ten's all- tournament team after leading the Wolverines to a 2-1 record in India- napolis. He hit the game-winning jumper in overtime to lead U-M to a 72-70 victory over Northwestern, and finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.
