Emma Reaney raced their way to their first All-America honors at the national stage while setting several records along the way. Ryan's strongest event was the 200 backstroke where she finished seventh in the country after winning the Big East title. Reaney earned honorable mentions in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. The duo car- ried the women's team to its best finish since 2002. Sophomore Frank Dyer finished fourth Sophomore Kelly Ryan and freshman at the NCAA meet in the 200 freestyle to give the men's team the points it needed to finish 28th overall this year. The Irish also claimed their fifth Big East title earlier in the season by holding off defending champion Louisville. Junior Bill Bass was named the conference's Swimmer of the Year and freshman diver Nick Nemetz won the Diver of the Year award. INDOOR TRACK & FIELD 100 points (▲ 67) 2011-12 academic year came on the indoor track for the Irish where the men's distance medley relay team cruised past the coun- try's best. Notre Dame, under the guidance of longtime coach Joe Piane, combined to score 100 total points this year thanks to a 12th-place finish by the men and a 38th- place finish nationally by the women.
