The Nairobi, Kenya, native enrolled at Hargrave to improve his academic transcripts. Since O'Brien's firing, Miami and Texas Tech have tried to start recruiting Owino. The 6-4, 260-pounder said that he still considers himself a NC State commitment, but he will keep his options open. Linebacker Quinton Patterson Shelby (N.C.) Crest Patterson (6-0, 215) was named to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game after helping Crest go 10-3 in 2012. He has stated that he would like to see linebackers coach Jon Tenuta retained, but Patterson is expected to remain committed to NC State. Wide receiver Kyrin Priester Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood High Priester, who caught 10 touchdown passes this season, originally told multiple media outlets that his commitment to NC State may be tied in with the future of wide receivers coach Troy Walters.
