Isaac Rochell Keeps Southern Connection Strong By Dan Murphy Two years ago, Notre Dame gave the recruiting world a momentary case of whiplash when the Midwest school plucked a pair of bluechip recruits out of SEC country. Georgia native Isaac Rochell barely turned a head when he decided to add another layer of depth to that Irish defensive line this summer. The difference says as much about Rochell as it does about the changing make-up of Notre Dame's roster. While Georgia hasn't been a fertile spot for the Irish historically, the 6-5, 260-pound Rochell appears to be in their comfort zone. He sounds like the kind of high school prospect that lands (and sticks) at Notre Dame regardless of his zip code. "He's an unbelievable football player, but the first thing I would be talking about is the character that he has," Eagle's Landing coach Rochell is a four-star recruit, the No. 11 player in Georgia, the No. 11 strongside defensive end nationally and the No. 127 overall prospect in the class of 2013 according to 247Sports. photo courtesy 247sports Jonathon Gess said. "Isaac can go anywhere in the country and fit right in." Gess said Rochell's leadership stands out more than anything he does on the field, which is a common refrain when talking to high school coaches about the players they will be sending to Notre Dame. Rochell was the captain of a team that won the Georgia Class A state title game 33-0 a few months ago.
