They visited every spring with almost no exceptions for 40 years. They helped the sherpas build the area���s first hospital and children���s hospital, and then helped staff them for decades. They added 13 medical clinics in more remote villages, along with schools, bridges and other projects that the community elders proposed. O���Connor, with the help of the Canadian government and other benefactors back home, established scholarships that send sherpas to universities
