fighting words Wes morgan A Sign Of Some Fight In The Fighting Irish Freshman forward Cameron Biedscheid showed some spunk when he refused to back down from St.��John���s guard/forward Sir���Dominic Pointer. A llen Pinkett punched his ticket home from Ireland in the days before the Notre Dame football team���s 2012 season opener against Navy for a poor choice of words in a radio interview. The former All-American Fighting Irish running back was suspended three games by the IMG Radio Network, where he works as a Notre Dame analyst, for saying the program needed ���a few bad citizens��� in order to have the same kind of edge as the nation���s top-tier teams, which tolerate a little trouble for a lot of onfield success. One example Pinkett rattled off was Ohio State ��� probably another poor choice considering the Buckeyes��� undefeated season last fall was soiled by NCAA probation and the inability to play in the postseason. Pinkett pointed to the suspensions photo by joe raymond of Notre Dame junior quarterback Tommy Rees, linebacker Carlo Calabrese and running back Cierre Wood prior to the start of the 2012 campaign as a sign Notre Dame was shifting from nice guys to bad boys. His remarks were regrettable. Had Pinkett crafted a description more thoughtfully, many would have agreed with him. Because, well, to a certain degree he���s right. No one is saying Notre Dame should throw out its character standards. No one with a shred of common sense truly believes Rees��� and Calabrese���s run-in with law enforcement at a party gave them street credit on the field or made them better players.
