Under the Dome Three Notre Dame Players On College Football Hall Of Fame Ballot Three former Notre Dame AllAmericans appear on the 2013 National Football Foundations College Football Hall of Fame Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly NCAA Division I-A) ballot that includes 77 players and five coaches. Linebacker Bob Crable (1978-81) One of 16 two-time consensus AllAmerican (1980-81) football players in school history, he holds the unbreakable Notre Dame record for career tackles (521). Crable also is the lone Notre Dame linebacker to be a firstround NFL pick, although Manti Teo could join him next month. Wideout/running back/return man Raghib Rocket Ismail (198890) One of the most electrifying players in NCAA history, he won the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and was Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1990 as a junior before turning pro. Ismail averaged 7.7 yards per carry while rushing for 1,015 yards, averaged a school-record 22.0 yards per catch, and scored six touchdowns on kick or punt returns. Aaron Taylor (1990-93) Another two-time consensus first-team AllAmerica selection, first at guard (1992) and then at tackle (1993), and the recipient of the 1993 Lombardi Award. More than 12,000 members of the NFF and College Hall of Fame will have their votes recorded and submitted to the Foundations 13-man honors court. The Hall of Fame class will be announced May 7. Aaron Taylor, a two-time consensus All-American and the recipient of the 1993 Lombardi Award, is among the Irish trio (Bob Crable and Raghib Ismail are the others) on this years Hall of Fame ballot. Photo courtesy notre dame media relations To be eligible, players must have been chosen first-team All-America by a major/national selector as recognized and utilized by the NCAA for its consensus All-America teams, played their last year of intercollegiate football at least 10 years prior, played within the last 50 years and be retired from playing professional football. The candidates post-football record as a citizen may also be weighed. This is Crables third time on the ballot (also in 2007 and 2010); its Ismails second straight appearance; and its Taylors first. Notre Dame has 44 former players and six former coaches already enshrined in the Hall of Fame, providing more inductees than any other institution. The most recent addition is tight end Dave Casper, who was inducted in 2012 and will be enshrined this summer.
