42 THE WOLVERINE JANUARY 2023 BY EJ HOLLAND W ith the Dec. 21 early Na- tional Signing Day over and done, it's time to take a deeper look at Michigan's 2023 recruiting class. I spent a ton of time on the road over the last year and saw most of these signees in one or multiple settings, and also watched hours of film. Here is a breakdown of how I would rank U-M's signees: 1. CB JYAIRE HILL KANKAKEE (ILL.) HIGH On3 Consensus Ranking: Mid four-star (Top 175-200 Prospect Na- tionally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (Top 100-125 Prospect Nationally) EJ's Evaluations: Game (Three), Practice (Two), Film EJ's Scouting Report: At 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Hill is a tall, rangy corner- back that could compete for a starting job as a true freshman. His combination of height, length and 10.87 100-me- ter speed make him a rare athlete at the cornerback position. Versatile pros- pect with experience playing safety and nickel. Still raw from a technique stand- point as a pure cover corner but makes up for it with his athleticism. A willing tackler when playing the run and even saw time in the box. Great natural instincts and a knack for making plays on the ball. Doubled as one of the most explosive offensive weapons in the state of Illinois, play- ing quarterback, running back and wide receiver. Has a slender build with plenty of room to add muscle mass. 2. OT EVAN LINK WASHINGTON (D.C.) GONZAGA On3 Consensus Ranking: Mid four-star (Top 250-300 Prospect Na- tionally)   FOOTBALL RECRUITING At 6-5, 270 pounds, Enow Etta is rated as the No. 13 defensive lineman and No. 119 overall prospect nationally by the On3 Consensus. He had 32 tackles for loss, including 18 sacks, for Colleyville (Texas) Covenant Christian Academy this past season.
