michigan in the pros some injuries of his own in his long NFL career, but he's back with the New York Jets to prove he's still one of the league's better pass catchers. "I'm starting to get into camp shape, that groove, that vibe," Edwards said. "Now is the chance to really go after it and really show these guys I still have it and that I can play at an elite level to help this team win games." In other camp news: • Two former Michigan linemen are listed No. 2 on the San Diego Chargers' depth chart. Center David Molk is behind starter Nick Hardwick, while Stephen Schilling is listed behind Jeromey Clary at right guard. • In San Francisco, receiver Mario Manningham — coming off multiple knee surgeries following a seasonending injury last year — starts the season on the physically unable to perform list. There has been no date given for his expected return. • Another former Michigan receiver, Steve Breaston, has signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints and appears to be the No. 3 man on the depth chart. Breaston, released by Kansas City in February, has struggled with knee inflammation and early arthritic symptoms in the last year. • Former Michigan defensive tackle Alan Branch is now with the Buffalo Bills and is expected to start for the team. He signed a one-year deal in April worth $3 million, including $350,000 in incentives. "Whatever he did, it appears to be right," linebacker coach Keith Butler told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "The biggest thing is we've got to keep him on the field. LaMarr is a prideful man. He understands he has to play at a certain level to fulfill his contract, you might say. He's working on it." • Another former Wolverine linebacker, Larry Foote Jr., inked a three-year deal with Pittsburgh in the offseason after taking James Farrior's spot. "Last year, when they turned [Farrior's starting spot] over to me, they wanted to see how I responded," Foote said. "And, off my play, they wanted me three more years. When you get toward the end and you see it coming, that alone just drives you. I made enough money, had enough success. I don't want to hang them up just yet. That's what motivates me in the morning."
