  basketball recruiting Michigan staff, but it's clear he's open to other options. It was Butler, then Michigan before Bulldogs coach Brad Stevens bolted to the Boston Celtics. Now, though, it seems to be a Michigan-UCLA battle. Distance is no longer a factor, according to some close to Bluiett, and he's getting more and more comfortable with the school. His former coach, Ed Schilling, is now a UCLA assistant. Arizona is a dark horse, too, and should not be discounted. • Long Beach Poly's Kameron Chatman (6-7, 190, No.  30 prospect in the land) will visit Michigan for the Notre Dame football night game, and U‑M has a shot here. His family likes the Wolverines, and so does he — but there are ties to the West Coast. The pageantry of the moment helped with hoops recruits at the last Notre Dame night game, so maybe it will work again. In July, he named Oregon, Michigan, USC, Arizona and UConn as his top five. Chatman plans to sign in November. "I'm trying to do it in the fall," he said. "So I'm going to cut it down then and go on my official visits. Then I'll go from there." • Michigan appears to be no longer actively recruiting Vince Edwards of Fremont, Ohio. We expect him to end up at Purdue.
