"He brings the same energy to his golf game that he does when he's on the ice playing hockey. He's been one of the best players from the state of Michigan for several years, and he understands the Michigan tradition. "I think he sees himself growing with the people and resources that will surround him at Michigan." Tyler Gardiner, tennis: The Wolver‑ ines have lost record-setting player Evan King to graduation, which leaves an opening on the roster for an eager player to step in and con‑ tribute. That roster spot could poten‑ tially be filled by Gardiner. The Novi, Mich., prodigy played at Northville High School, where he carved out a nice singles career. Gar‑ diner captured a singles crown at the 2011 Division I MHSAA state cham‑ pionship, and again advanced to the championship match in 2012 before falling and finishing as the state's runner-up. Gardiner concluded his high school career with an overall singles mark of 63-2, and he posted a spar‑ kling 30-1 record his senior year.
