INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS "The most difficult thing for younger players is the maturity level and social change going from high school to college, but Zach is mature beyond his years. I think he'll fit in really easily." • While Werenski joins the team, Michigan has announced the departure of two defensemen — Spencer Hyman and Michael Szuma. The younger brother of senior alternate captain Zach, Hyman did not appear in a game as a freshman in 2013-14. He has left to pursue a hockey opportunity at the University of Toronto. Szuma appeared in 32 games over his first three seasons, recording a single assist. He is remaining in school but has decided not to continue with the hockey team. With their exits and the addition of Werenski, Michigan now has nine defensemen on its roster for this upcoming year, not including senior forward Andrew Sinelli, who played half his junior year on defense. OUTDOOR GAME Michigan will play an outdoor ice hockey game at Soldier Field in Chicago on Feb. 7, 2015, when it takes on rival Michigan State as part of the Third Annual Hockey City Classic. This will be the seventh outdoor game for the Wolverines in head coach Red Berenson's 31 years.
