The other $10 million will endow the school's head football coaching position, with Brian Kelly's official title now the Corbett Family Head Football Coach. It is the third coaching endowment at Notre Dame since February, joining Kevin and Karen Keyes Family Women's Head Bas- ketball Coach Muffet McGraw (endow- ment $5 million) and Baumer Family Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cor- rigan (endowment $3 million). "I'm honored and humbled to be a part of this incredible gift from Dick," Kelly said. Corbett, who also has a master 's de- gree from Harvard, worked for John F. Kennedy during his presidential cam- paign before serving as the Kennedy family's financial manager. He is chief executive officer and president of Con- corde Companies, a real estate invest- ment firm in Tampa, Fla. UNDER THE DOME Brian Kelly became the third Notre Dame head coach this year to have his position endowed by a University benefactor. PHOTO BY JOE RAYMOND IRISH ATHLETES STUDY ABOARD Sixteen Notre Dame student-athletes traveled to South Africa on May 18 as part of a new study abroad option at the University titled "Negative Attitudes: A Cultural, Historical, and Social Psychological Analysis of Racism in South Africa." The three-week, three-credit program offers a study abroad opportunity to student-athletes who routinely attend summer school on campus and cannot take advantage of study abroad options during the fall or spring semesters. Seven of the student-athletes were football players: senior right tackle Mark Harrell, senior long-snapper Scott Daly, senior walk-on running back Josh An- derson, junior linebackers Jaylon Smith and Doug Randolph, junior receiver and Academic All-American Corey Robinson, and freshman nose guard Jerry Tillery. The course included a service learning component, cultural excursions and a safari in Kruger National Park. The group flew to Johannesburg, traveled to Sowetto, Nelspruit and Cape Town, and returned June 6. Two other football players — senior defensive end Romeo Okwara and junior safety Max Redfield — were among five student-athletes who traveled to Greece in June for a study program titled "Summer Greece" that included exposure to archaeological sites and museums in Ancient Corinth.
