the second game of the year I have to pull him in and say, 'Hey listen, our quarterback got hurt … so you've got to move to quarterback, and you're not going to get to play defense anymore,'" Battaglia recalled. "And instead of say- ing, 'But I'm going to get a scholar- ship as a defensive player,' he just said 'Coach, whatever you need.' He's just very unselfish, he's matured so much. "He's a very hard-working kid. He'll do anything for the team. This year, he had to play many different positions for us, I mean he had to learn how to play quarterback, he plays defensive end and linebacker. Jamir just works very hard, he'll do anything he needs for our team to win." Jones finished with 17 total stops and six tackles for a loss on the defensive side of the ball during his junior cam- paign. After taking over at quarterback, he completed 34 of 82 passes for 715 yards with five touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight games. Rivals ranks Jones as the No. 2 player FILM ANALYSIS Strengths Right now, Jamir Jones' game is more about upside than proven production, but the poten- tial he does possess is impressive … Versatile athlete … Tremendous frame … Listed at 6-3 and 230 pounds, but has the potential to add significantly more size and strength … Smooth athlete, stays light on his feet for a big man … Long arms and fast hands helps him project well as an edge player. Areas For Improvement Jack-of-all trades right now, so he needs to master one position … Needs to continue build- ing up his strength, especially his lower body … Must improve his explosiveness and agility. — Bryan Driskell
