in New York and the No. 41 outside linebacker nationally. He could start out at that position when he arrives to South Bend, but it may not be long until he begins playing with his hand on the ground. Jones played multiple sports at Aquinas Institute, which helped keep his weight down, so once he focuses purely on football and joins a college-level strength and condition- ing program, there is room for him to grow. "I really see him as a bigger kid," Battaglia said. "I think he's going to end up at defensive end. He was a three-sport athlete for the last three years; this was the first year, actually, he didn't play lacrosse. So I think with lifting for a couple months, and plus he's still getting taller — I don't know when he's going to stop. "He's very aggressive and he's got great length. He's hard to block because his hands go down to his ankles, and he runs so well. He's very smart, he's got a good idea of how to play the game and he loves playing. "If he is going to be an outside line- backer, he's got to get faster. Not that he's slow now, but I don't think you want him to get any bigger if he's go- ing to be an outside linebacker. I think that's going to be hard for him to main- tain this weight, because he'd have to really run. That's probably the biggest thing to work on."
