FAN FORUM spread the defense enough to widen the holes up the middle. Golson's personality and character displayed he does exhibit someone who has deserted friends and team- mates, and someone afraid of true competition he didn't get previously but has now. If the Notre Dame defense shows improvement over '14, I believe the of- fense will be much better and the won- loss stat will be greatly improved. F.A. "Sock" Sokolowski Centerville, Ohio Mr. Sokolowski, in fairness to Golson, we don't believe he knew he was definitely transferring before spring practice. His first goal was to graduate, so he had to stay in school and get the "lay of the land" at quarterback in the spring. A lot of things can happen. Zaire could have suffered an injury or something else during the spring that might have side- lined him this season. In our opinion, Gol- son wanted to be anointed as the clear-cut starter and not be in a "time share." However, we do believe the wheels were in motion for an exit strategy after the bowl game. Golson also declined to speak with the media during the spring because he probably didn't want to hear the ques- tion, "Are you definitely coming back for your fifth season at Notre Dame?" He did not want to say yes publicly, and then later be accused of lying. BRYAN'S SONG "O'Driscoll drove with a song," wrote W.B. Yeats, and Bryan Driskell writes with the valued expertise of a Mike Mayock analysis. His prose flows. Wow, what a grand addition to Blue & Gold Illustrated! Matt Hart Trenton, Mich. LADIES FIRST Loved the article on the ladies bas- ketball program in the June/July 2015 edition. I had never read anything EVER about female recruits, and it was nice to read some names we are after. I'd like to see more articles like the one by Jordan Wells entitled "The Irish are Targeting Frontcourt Prospects" for the men's program — but only do the same for the ladies. Love the magazine! Nick DeCillis Via the Internet OFF SCHEDULE I can't believe the June/July issue did not have the 2015 football sched- ule in it again. Right on the first page, inside the cover, you should have the schedule and keep it up to date as the season goes on so people can look at it quickly and not have to try to find it or see there isn't one. It's just unbelievable to me. Hope- fully this will "wake up the echoes" on your staff. Jack A. Hensell Grand Rapids, Mich. Mr. Hensell, we did have a full break- down of the schedule on pages 34-37 in June/July, with the dates included at the top. It also was in the May edition (page 14) and in March (page 82) … but we will be more vigilant about having it each time.
