FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame coaches got a mid-sum- mer break with an NCAA dead period preventing any prospects from visiting campuses between June 29 and July 12, but the lull in recruiting action didn't stop a number of high-profile prospects from booking trips to South Bend. Old Tappan (N.J.) High four-star defen- sive back Jordan Fuller is expected to visit Notre Dame after the restrictions expired. He'll be joined on campus by Fontana (Calif.) Summit four-star wide receiver Damian Alloway, Houston (Texas) Aldine Davis four-star linebacker Jeffrey McCull- och and Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven four-star cornerback Donte' Vaughn. While it's a star-studded list of visitors for the unofficial second half of the sum- mer recruiting season, it's one that could get even more impressive should Fresno (Calif.) Clovis five-star linebacker Caleb Kelly make his way to campus. Kelly, who was scheduled to be at the Irish Invasion on June 19, said he wasn't planning on canceling his original trip, but factors outside of his control contributed to the decision. He claims that won't be the case this time around, especially after he put the Irish on the list of his top eight schools. "Notre Dame made the cut because they are a school that I really want to look at. I have heard a lot of good things about them. I just want to go out there and check them out," Kelly said. The 6-4, 219-pound linebacker is ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect in the country and the No. 2 recruit in California. Fuller, whose brother plays at UCLA, is being recruited by Notre Dame as cornerback with his size at 6-2, 190 pounds. He's ranked as the No. 19 athlete in the nation and the No. 10 prospect in New Jersey. McCulloch was offered by the Irish back on June 2 and recently participated in The Opening. He tips the scale at 6-2 1/2, 230 pounds and is ranked by Rivals.com as the nation's No. 10 inside linebacker, the No. 213 prospect in the country and the No. 25 recruit in Texas. Vaughn, who already visited South Bend on June 10, is pegged as the No. 18 safety prospect in the country and the nation's No. 250 overall recruit this cycle. Four-star defensive back Jordan Fuller from Old Tappan, N.J., is expected to be among the highly ranked recruits who visit Notre Dame after the NCAA dead period that ran from June 29 to July 12.
