FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP • The Irish might have already picked up a commitment from Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair four-star tight end Brock Wright for the class of 2017, but his pledge doesn't mean the staff is done recruiting the position down the line. Notre Dame offered Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator three-star tight end Cole Kmet in late June after he camped for the Irish Invasion. Kmet — like Wright — is regarded as one of the top rising junior tight end prospects in the country at 6-4, 220 pounds, and he plans to give the Irish a hard look, especially after a summer tour that included stops around the Midwest. "Seeing campus is big for me, because you get a feel for the university," Kmet said. "Northwestern has stood out to me because it's close to home and has a nice campus and great academics. I went to Ohio State and got to meet Urban Meyer, which was fantastic. They have a great business school. And then obviously there's Notre Dame. It's close to home, there is great academics, and they play good football there." Kmet caught 18 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore. His father — Frank Lmet — was an NFL defensive lineman and played at Purdue. — Andrew Ivins Follow @BGI_aivins and @BGI_JWells on Twitter for daily recruiting updates available on BlueandGold.com!
