FOOTBALL RECRUITING and through the facilities. "I hung out with him after the game, and got to see what campus life if all about. After a game, all of the players were just kind of hanging out with each other, going around town. I was just getting to see what it would be like if I was a player on the team." Should the Wolverines close with both of those players, the game visit weekend against BYU will be a huge reason for it. NORTHWESTERN — OCT. 10 While it didn't initially give the impression that it would be a big visit weekend, the 38-0 victory over Northwestern actually saw some very important prospects make their way to town. Four official visitors were on-campus, with Ohio State run- ning back pledge Kareem Walker key among them. Walker is ranked by Rivals.com as a five-star recruit, the No. 2 senior in the Garden State (behind Gary), and the No. 1 running back and No. 21 overall prospect nationally. The 6-0, 208-pounder is exploring his options outside of Columbus, and Michigan displayed the type of team that has him intrigued. "Coach Harbaugh's message to me was that I needed to come there and be a leader," Walker said. "He sees the scheme I'm in right now, and he sees that it's the same scheme. He feels that I'd be a better back in the I for- mation instead of the spread because of the type of back I am. He said that I need to come there and play early." Walker's teammate, defensive end Quayshon Alexander, also made the trip. The 6-3, 230-pounder isn't as highly regarded — Rivals.com rates him as a three-star prospect, the No. 16 senior in New Jersey and the No. 37 weakside defensive end na- tionally — and is committed to Ne- braska. He considered his official visit more a chance to have fun than a true business trip. The same may be said for Allen (Texas) High defensive end Levi On- wuzurike. The 6-3, 230-pounder is ranked by Rivals.com as a three-star recruit, the No. 68 senior in Texas and the No. 23 weakside defensive end nationally. Although his head coach at Allen High, Tom Westerberg, was a guest speaker at Michigan's coach- ing clinic in the spring, it appears the Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic stand- out Kareem Walker — Rivals.com's No. 1 running back and No. 21 overall prospect nationally — is committed to Ohio State, but made an official visit to Michigan for the Northwestern game.
