INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS heartfelt remorse. "It's incredible sadness," Har- baugh said during his coaches' show later in the night. "I don't know if it's going to get any better any time soon. You watched his fight and his whole family's fight, the Carr and Curtis families. The sanctity of life … you saw it so much in him. He was so full of life and love. "But heaven got stronger. Heaven has another angel now." Beilein appeared at his weekly press conference only hours after learning the sad news. "Our condolences go out to all the Carrs," Beilein said with tears in his eyes. "We've followed the situation so close. So many were involved … such a great friend of not just Lloyd and the Carr family, but Jason, Tammi and everyone. It's a sad day. "The positive will be the aware- ness of childhood brain cancer and what we can all do going forward." Thousands gathered at a memo- rial service in Saline to honor Chad, including the members of the Michi- gan football team and former Wol- verines like Desmond Howard and Brian Griese. "We are so happy that you are here with us," Lloyd Carr said, standing at the podium. "Because I've read the only way to survive grief is through love. Love comforts and love conquers all." Fifteen current Wolverines handed out orange balloons — Chad's favor- ite color — for release in his memory after the service. "Our little oopsie baby, God had a big plan for him," his mother said. "He was here for a purpose. … He was here to change the world, I truly believe that. "Our little 5-year-old boy made a bigger impact on this world than most people ever make, and that is amazing." ESPN even ran a feature on Chad's battle prior to U-M's game with Ohio State, days after his death. "We are grateful that they are telling Chad's story and thus the story of so many other children who are fighting this terrible monster," Tammi Carr wrote. A story about a boy who won't be forgotten anytime soon. THEWOLVERINE.COM POLL RESULTS Each month, TheWolverine.com runs a new poll for its readers to vote on.
