FROM OUR READERS • We have high-character players on our basketball team. I do not be- lieve our basketball team has "elite" talent, or the type of talent neces- sary to go far in the NCAA Tourna- ment. I believe Moritz Wagner is the only player (including Caris Le- Vert) with a chance of ever having a meaningful pro career. But the fol- lowing makes these realities easier for me to accept. Have you ever noticed how bright and intelligent so many of our bas- ketball players seem to be? Have you ever noticed how often they smile and how they truly care for one another? Have you ever noticed, not just the respect but the admira- tion they seem to have for Coach Beilein? Have you ever noticed how they are not all tatted up — not that having tattoos means you can't be a good kid, but I'm just sayin'? Would I rather have a squad full of super-talented one-and-dones that help ensure late runs in the NCAA Tournament and greater chances of winning national titles? I don't know … maybe. I think (with an emphasis on think) my preference would be to recruit super-talented players that stay four years like they do at MSU. But the reality is we have what we have and when we are talking character, I wouldn't trade our team for any other. Our team reminds me of what we mean when we say "Leaders and Best." ATLDavid • Give us a win versus Tulsa and I'll be happy. Give us a win versus Notre Dame and I'll be satisfied. Anything past that and I'll be impressed. This team has had a rocky road this season with the injuries and some of the brutal losses. Just hasn't been "our" year. Two-plus wins in the tournament after having the national clowns doubting that we even belong here would work for me. MICHIGAN4 Freshman Moritz Wagner averaged just 2.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest in the sea- son's first 34 games, but he totaled 12 points and four rebounds in 25 minutes of the Wolverines' final two Big Ten Tournament tilts.
