While the new rule adds another layer to recruiting, Kitchings still believes that ultimately it still comes back to the basics. "You still have to recruit the kid, recruit the family and people that are important to them like coaches and mentors," Kitchings noted. — Matt Carter Garrett Bradbury Adjusting To Playing Left Guard Redshirt sophomore Garrett Bradbury has seen a lot of change in his short Wolf- pack career. The 6-3, 297-pounder has played tight end and defensive tackle, and has now set- tled in at left guard. He is also learning from his second offensive line coach (Dwayne Ledford) and second offensive coordinator (Eli Drinkwitz). The impact of his second strength and conditioning coach, Dantonio "Thunder" Burnette, should also be felt this fall. Brad- bury has battled injuries in the past, but felt good and healthy when fall camp got underway. "There is a lot of new," Bradbury said. "We had a hell of a summer and worked our butts off. Coach Thunder [Burnette] and his staff got us right, and not just physically, but mentally. He worked on our mental condi- tioning and mental toughness, too." Bradbury also added that the Wolfpack will have a new quarterback and new center. Former South Alabama standout and gradu- ate transfer Joe Scelfo will handle the latter position. "Joe is awesome and has played more football than anyone on the O-line," Brad- bury said. "He understands the game, and his father is a coach. "He has played against SEC and ACC teams. He has great leverage and great hands. He has really helped with his leader- ship." Bradbury played 36 snaps in nine games last year. He battled injuries during both his first year and redshirt freshman season, but was completely healthy this past spring, which was good because several of his of- fensive line teammates missed time due to injuries or suspension. Ledford has been preaching speed off the ball, toughness and finishing since arriving from Appalachian State. "I think I've found a home on the offen- sive line, and I love the dudes in the room," Bradbury said.
