remained in the fold following the coach- ing transition — middle blockers Jessica Kemp and Lauryn Terry and setter Victoria Dozier. Hampton-Keith believes Dozier has a chance to make an immediate impact, and the 6-3 Terry is also expected to play a key role right away. "We want to coach Terry's skills and experience up to her athleticism, so she can be a force to be reckoned with," Hampton- Keith said. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any col- lege program, and Hampton-Keith enjoys the process. She relates well to players and families since she "wears a lot of hats" herself. "I'm a mom and a wife, and lots of other things," Hampton-Keith said. "I really en- joy getting to know my athletes off the court. I want them to get to know me as well." She is originally from Gainesville, Fla., and graduated from Florida International. She coached at her alma mater, plus North Texas, Texas Christian and Arizona State. She developed a good reputation on the recruiting trail. "I think recruiting is one of my passions in coaching at this level," Hampton-Keith said. "It's interesting to gravitate to people you can relate to well. I want competitive people with a high drive to get better." The award honors teams that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. NCSU combined for a 3.475 GPA, with soph - omores Sarah Konchan and Becky Porter both achieving a perfect 4.0. Six players sported a 3.5 GPA or higher, and every returning player had at least a 3.1.
