MAY 2017 THE WOLVERINE 63 BY CHRIS BALAS M ichigan has four NBA playoff participants — Washington Wizards point guard Trey Burke, Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr., Indiana small forward Glenn Robinson III and Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Jamal Craw- ford — which is tied for 11th most among all colleges. Burke did not play in game one of the Wizards' first-round series against Atlanta, which resulted in a 114-107 Washington win. Hardaway struggled to a 2-of-11 shooting night, including a 0-of-6 effort from long range, and notched seven points and seven rebounds in defeat for the Hawks. Game two was set for April 19 in Washington, D.C. Robinson had missed 12 games with a calf injury before returning in game two of the Pacers' first-round series with Cleveland. He notched four points and two rebounds in nine minutes off the bench in a 117-111 loss to the Cavaliers. Indiana also dropped game one to the Cavs, falling 109-108. Game three was slated for April 20 in In- dianapolis. Crawford was limited to eight points on 4-of-12 shooting in the opening game of the Clippers' first- round series against Utah, which was won 97-95 by the Jazz. Game two was scheduled for April 18 in Los Angeles. MITCH MCGARY INSISTS HIS CAREER ISN'T OVER Off-the-court issues have plagued former Michigan big man Mitch McGary since he was drafted 21st overall in 2014 by the Oklahoma City Thunder, eventually causing his re- lease from the team. McGary aver- aged 6.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a rookie, and he played in 20 games his second year before be- ing cut. McGary told The Chicago Tribune he is bowling in his spare time while getting in shape to play basketball again, noting he recently bowled his first 700 series. "I love it," McGary said. "People are surprised I bowl pretty good." McGary said he bowled youth leagues at now-closed Westchester Lanes in his hometown of Chester- ton, Ind. He once bowled in the Indi- ana youth state tournament. McGary does not plan to quit bas- ketball and try to bowl profession- ally, however. He knows his future is still on the hardwood. "The NBA is complicated; the NBA is a business," he said. "I'm getting back in shape. I'll be back, whether it be the NBA or overseas."
