MICHIGAN FOOTBALL DENARD ROBINSON'S BIG DAY BLASTS HIM UP CAREER LISTS Junior quarterback Denard Robinson repeatedly insists he cares nothing about statistics, but he cared plenty about beating Ohio State in the regular-season finale, 40-34. Robinson's best day of the season proved a key element in that victory. Career Passing Attempts Rk. Player 1. Chad Henne 7. Jim Harbaugh 8. Brian Griese 9. Denard Robinson Attempts 1,387 620 606 559 • Robinson's 17 passing attempts against Ohio State brought his career total to 559 on his career. He remained in ninth place on Michigan's all-time list. Career Passing Completions Rk. Player 1. Chad Henne 7. Brian Griese 8. Denard Robinson Completions 828 355 329 • Robinson's 14 completions in the win over the Buckeyes gave him 329 for his career, moving him past Steve Smith (324) and into eighth place on Michigan's all-time list. Career Touchdown Passes Rk. Player 1. Chad Henne 5. Steve Smith 6. Denard Robinson TD Tosses 87 42 38 • Robinson fired three TD passes in push- ing Michigan past Ohio State, and in the process made a leap on this list. He's now thrown 38 touchdown passes in his Michi- gan career, more than Tom Brady (35) and Todd Collins (37), who previously occupied the No. 7 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Rk. Player 1. Chad Henne 6. Tom Brady 7. Steve Smith 8. Denard Robinson Along with delivering a much overdue win against the Buckeyes, Robinson rocketed his own numbers skyward. He made moves on multiple categories on Michigan's all-time lists. Here is a rundown of his most recent progress: Career Passing Yards Yards 9,715 5,351 4,860 4,814 • Robinson threw for 167 yards against the Buckeyes. He moved closer, but didn't move past Smith on this list. With a decent first quarter in Michigan's bowl game, that will likely happen. Career Rushing Yards Rk. Player 1. Mike Hart 6. 7. Rob Lytle 8. Denard Robinson Chris Perry Yards 5,040 3,696 3,317 3,216 • Robinson broke free for 170 yards on the ground against the Buckeyes. That boosted his career total to 3,216, higher than the previous No. 8, Billy Taylor (3,072), who was in attendance for the Michigan-Ohio State game. The big day also put Robinson in striking distance of Rob Lytle, who is now just 101 yards ahead. Career Rushing Touchdowns Rk. Player 1. Anthony Thomas 4. Chris Perry 5. Denard Robinson Rushing TD 55 39 35 • Robinson rushed for two scores versus Ohio State, leaving behind four-year starter Rick Leach (34) and moving into the all-time top five U-M ball carriers. gest names in college football over the last 10 years: Florida's Tim Tebow, West Virginia's Pat White, Antwaan Randle El (1998-00) Ell Roberson (2000-03) Josh Harris (2001-03) Joshua Cribbs (2001-04) Shaun Carney (2004-07) Vince Young (2003-05) Brad Smith (2002-05) Dan LeFevour (2006-09) Pat White (2005-08) Tim Tebow (2006-09) Colin Kaepernick (2007-10) Robert Griffin III (Jr.) Denard Robinson (Jr.) Texas Vince Young and others. Denard Robinson 14 • Robinson ended his 100-yard dry spell against the Buckeyes, and in the process, broke a logjam at the No. 7 spot on Michigan's all-time list for 100-yard games. He moved ahead of Tshimanga Biakabutuka, Billy Taylor and Gordon Bell, all of whom rushed for triple digits 13 times in their careers. Career Total Offense Rk. Player 1. Chad Henne 2. John Navarre 3. Denard Robinson Total Offense 9,300 8,995 8,030 • Robinson smashed through the 8,000-yard barrier with this big day against the Buck- eyes. He won't be threatening John Navarre this season, but has a definite shot at not only him but also Chad Henne, the No. 1 man on the list, next year. Dan LeFevour (2006-09) — put up the most video-game-like numbers of the 13, accounting for 160 touch- downs (102 passing, 58 rushing) dur- ing his Chippewas career. Robinson is the third U-M quarter- back in school history with at least 30 rushing touchdowns and 30 through the air, joining Rick Leach and Steve Smith. Leach had 48 passing and 34 rushing touchdowns during his four seasons as a starter from 1975- 78. Smith barely achieved the feat, throwing for 42 and rushing for 31 from 1980-83. Robinson's 73 combined touch- downs, meanwhile, rank fourth all time behind Chad Henne's 90 from 2004-07, Leach's 82 and John Na- varre's 74 from 2000-03. ❏ DECEMBER 2011 THE WOLVERINE 49 100-Yard Games 28 15
