The NHL MARTY TURCO SAYS HE'S NOT DONE YET Although days and days of golf sounds like a great life to former Michigan goaltender Marty Turco, the longtime NHLer isn't ready to retire just yet. Turco, a backup in Chi- cago last year, remains a free agent, but told Sportsnet.ca his agent still talks to NHL general managers to let them know he is staying in shape and awaiting a call. "There are only 30 teams I want to play for," Turco quipped. "I'm train- ing as if I'm playing a game tomor- row night." Turco has been participating in drills with the minor league Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, keeping one eye on NHL games every night after training and "logging tons of ice time." He said he'd be willing to spend a few weeks in the minors if signed by an NHL club. 96 THE WOLVERINE DECEMBER 2011 "I don't wake up angry or frus- trated," he said. "All I think about is winning. … Having a winning at- titude is something I've always cher- ished. There's nothing like being on the ice on game night with the lights on." Turco has compiled 273 wins in his 11 years in the NHL. He saw action in 29 games in 2010-11, posting an 11- 11-3 record, but he was replaced early in the year by Corey Crawford.
