UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Patrick Hodan — Soccer The Brookfield, Wis., native was named to the watch list for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy, an award that's annually presented to the top player in college soccer. As a junior, he received 2014 ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading the Irish in goals scored (nine) and points (21) while starting 12 of 21 matches. He also picked up National Soccer Coaches Association of America first-team All-America honors. Sam Fry — Volleyball The sophomore middle blocker from Cincinnati earned a spot on the preseason All-ACC team. She led the Irish in solo blocks (15), assisted blocks (92) and total blocks (107) en route to All-ACC Freshman accolades in 2014. She was the lone player to start all 29 matches for Notre Dame, while also finishing second on the team in points (324.0), points per set (3.03), service aces (21) and attack percentage (.242). Lee Kiefer — Fencing Fresh off winning her third national title in 2015, the senior from Versailles, Ky., brought home gold medals in foil com- petition at both the Division I USA Championships June 27- July 6 in San Jose, Calif., and the Pan Am Games July 10-26 in Toronto, Ontario, this summer. She also captured fifth place at the World Fencing Championships July 13-19 in Moscow, Russia. Cari Roccaro — Soccer The senior midfielder/defender is one of 28 players in- cluded on the preseason watch list for the 2015 MAC Her- mann Trophy, which goes to the top player in the nation. The East Islip, N.Y., native earned first-team All-ACC honors as a junior, starting 18 games and anchoring a defense that allowed just 0.82 goals per contest. She scored two goals on the season, including the game-winner in a 2-0 triumph over Syracuse. TOP OF THE CLASS
