With a 45-20 record in his five sea-
sons at Notre Dame, head coach Brian
Kelly's average record of 9-4 is two
games better than the average of ex-
actly seven wins per year averaged by
predecessors Bob Davie (1997-2001),
Tyrone Willingham (2002-04) and Char-
lie Weis (2005-09), all of whom were
fired.
Consequently, with what Kelly him-
self describes as his deepest and best
overall team on paper this season, the
expectation is that anything less than
10 wins this season would be a huge
disappointment. And if Notre Dame
doesn't make a run for the four-team
College Football Playoff this year with
its plethora of NFL prospects, when
will it happen? Here were a few sam-
