WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

our Notre Dame women's basket-
ball players — three current and one
former — collected international med-
als this summer.
Incoming freshman guards Ali Pat-
berg and Arike Ogunbowale both
were in Europe. Patberg earned a gold
medal at the FIBA Under-19 World
Championship in Chekhov, Russia,
while Ogunbowale was in Debrecen,
Hungary, where she helped USA Bas-
ketball to a silver medal at the FIBA
U18 3x3 World Championship.
Then at the Pan-American games held
in Toronto, Ontario, from July 10-26, cur-
rent junior forward Taya Reimer started
for the silver medal USA Basketball team
that lost to former teammate Natalie
Achonwa's Canada outfit, 81-73, in the
gold medal game.
The 2014 graduate Achonwa suf-
fered a severe knee injury in the Elite
Eight win versus Baylor that season
and was unable to play in the Final
Four. She served as Notre Dame's
director of basketball operations this
