igning four freshman wide
receivers, plus a tight end in
Aliz'e Jones who is deemed
more a wideout, did not seem
necessary back in February.
That's because Notre Dame was re-
turning its top six receivers from 2014
and already had two more four-star
freshmen — Justin Brent and Corey
Holmes — waiting their turn among
the octet.
Meanwhile, tight end already had
five players with at least three years of
eligibility remaining.
It turns out those February signings
look to be propitious in 2015 after all.
Two of last year 's wide receivers,
C.J. Prosise and Brent, are now full-
time running backs after the academic
ineligibility and transfer of running
back Greg Bryant. From the looks of it,
those subtractions from the receiving
corps have not lessened the competi-
tion. In fact it has been enhanced to
where the receiving units — including
tight end — will likely have the most
competition and deepest rotation for
the Fighting Irish in 2015.
The reasons are manifold:
