GAME PREVIEW: TEXAS of amassing only 59 yards of total of- fense against Arkansas in its 31-7 bowl loss, the attrition along the offensive line and inconsistent quarterback play should give Notre Dame an apprecia- ble edge on defense, where it returned virtually everyone, plus added top NFL prospect KeiVarae Russell, after experiencing one injury after another over the final month of 2015. Against the three 2014 teams Texas played that finished in the Associated Press top 10 — No. 3 TCU, No. 7 Bay- lor and No. 10 UCLA — the Long- horns managed only 11.3 points per game. The battle in the trenches between Texas' offensive line and Notre Dame's defensive front should provide an early gauge of what the two teams are capable of accomplishing this season.
