GAME PREVIEW: TEXAS
of amassing only 59 yards of total of-
fense against Arkansas in its 31-7 bowl
loss, the attrition along the offensive
line and inconsistent quarterback play
should give Notre Dame an apprecia-
ble edge on defense, where it returned
virtually everyone, plus added top
NFL prospect KeiVarae Russell, after
experiencing one injury after another
over the final month of 2015.
Against the three 2014 teams Texas
played that finished in the Associated
Press top 10 — No. 3 TCU, No. 7 Bay-
lor and No. 10 UCLA — the Long-
horns managed only 11.3 points per
game.
The battle in the trenches between
Texas' offensive line and Notre Dame's
defensive front should provide an
early gauge of what the two teams are
capable of accomplishing this season.
