and playing for championships. That's
taken some time. That's the foundation
of our strength.
"Our weaknesses, we have to con-
tinue to look at ways as we continue
to move the bar academically here, we
have to continue to support our stu-
dent-athletes and continue to look for
ways to make sure that our kids are
solidly supported academically, and
I think we're making great progress
there."
During the summer, Kelly told The
South Bend Tribune that all except for
"maybe one or two players" are at-risk
academically, meaning they would not
have been admitted to the university
without their football prowess. ✦
Kelly noted the depth has improved at Notre Dame, a statement that will be tested at nose guard after
senior Jarron Jones (above) went down with a season-ending knee injury in August.
