Dame, the Irish expected the move
would only bolster their depth, but
head coach Brian Kelly sees a potential
starter in the former Cal player.
"I thought we were going to get
more of a situation guy — option,
box safety, but he's shown himself
to know our defense pretty good,"
Kelly said. "He picks up things very
well." ✦
Fifth-year senior Jarrett Grace — who is close to returning to the form he displayed in 2013, when he led
the team in tackles before suffering a broken leg — is part of a three-player logjam at Mike linebacker.
