creased, but it is not just his skills that have caught the eye of his coaches. "Aliz'e has done a good job accli- mating himself to the college game. He's very competitive and really takes coaching well," Booker said. "He's a perfectionist, so he's hard on himself and wants to get things right. I love his attitude. I love his competitive- ness." Booker noted that Jones has the abil- ity to make the tough catches in traffic, a must for tight ends in the Irish of- fense and another reason he will play right away. "Aliz'e is a matchup nightmare," Kelly said. Another camp standout has been 6-4, 205-pound wideout Equanime- ous St. Brown. Like Jones, St. Brown has impressed with not only strong athletic traits but also an advanced un- derstanding of how to play the game. "Equanimeous is probably a little farther down the road [than most rook- ies] from a fundamental, technique, route running standpoint," associate head coach/wide receiver coach Mike Denbrock explained. "Even though he's young, his football mentality and his knowledge of the game are really superior to most freshmen that come in. He's got a chance to flash and do some good things for us." With Notre Dame's depth at the position, being technically advanced was not going to earn St. Brown play- ing time. A freshman receiver had to be talented if he was going to work himself into the rotation. St. Brown has impressed with his speed and ball skills, giving Kelly another deep threat to work with.
