  MICHIGAN RECRUITING The four-star prospect completed 211 of 325 throws (64.9 percent) for 2,998 yards with 38 touchdowns and just five interceptions as a senior, and led his Warriors to an 11-1 record and to the Division 2 regional final while setting every major passing record in school history at powerhouse Brother Rice. The 6-2, 205-pounder was nearly unstoppable on the field and was also a force off of it. Throughout his high school career at Brother Rice, a high achieving academic institution, Mal- zone maintained a 3.79 GPA. Michigan's biggest haul of Gatorade Players of the Year came in the 2004 re- cruiting class (five) when they landed Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Washington four- star wide receiver Adrian Arrington, Albuquerque (N.M.) Cibola four-star offensive tackle Alan Branch, Wash- ington (D.C.) Gonzaga four-star wide receiver Dough Dutch, Syracuse (N.Y.) Onondaga Central three-star running back Mike Hart and West Lawn (Pa.) Wilson five-star quarterback Chad Henne. Counting Bredeson and Peters, the Wolverines have landed 27 Gatorade Players of the Year since the award was created in 1988. — Brandon Brown DECEMBER DECISIONS The NCAA's recruiting dead period — which prohibits face-to-face contact between college coaches and prospects — extends from Dec. 14 to Jan. 13 and is typically a time of slower recruiting news, particularly among prospects in the senior class. However, that may not be the case for Michigan this year. A number of targets plan to make their college commitments during the dead of winter, including some who could end up in Maize and Blue. Pembroke Pines (Fla.) Flanagan line- backer Devin Bush Jr. will announce his college commitment Dec. 16, with Auburn and Florida State the Wolver- ines' primary competition. The 5-11, 224-pounder is Rivals.com's No. 6 in- side linebacker and No. 184 overall prospect nationally. He took multiple Detroit King defensive back Lavert Hill, Rivals.com's No. 4 player in Michigan and No. 194 overall prospect in the land, is expected to announce his college choice in mid-December and could be Ann Arbor- bound.
