4 THE WOLVERINE FEBRUARY 2018 Dear The Wolverine: I have been a loyal Wolverine since November 1969, my first game at The Big House. I have seen good times and bad, and I am ready to get back to good. Many issues are evident with the latest team, and I am hopeful for change in the fall. I would like to see more informa- tion on what happens in the offsea- son, what can be told of the summer workouts and what is going on in the coming months with early enrollees and returnees. Not sure how much access you and your cohorts have to these, but I believe this would be fascinating to hear about. I appreciate the magazine and en- joy reading it every time. Thanks for all your hard work, and I love hearing Chris Balas all on The Huge Show, but someone needs to set him straight — he is MSU first and foremost. John H. Urban Via the Internet Dear The Wolverine: I am a proud Wolverine and avid college football fan. Like most oth- ers, I live and die by the success of our team. With that said, reading Jake Butt's article on ThePlayersTribune. com regarding his decision to play in last year's Orange Bowl reiterated my confidence and respect in our boys in Maize and Blue. Even though Jake tore his ACL and ultimately saw his draft position drop, he didn't complain and only perse- vered. He did make a statement regarding the current bowl system. We have now created a final four, based on 3 non-conference games in September and conference games thereafter. We have no idea if a confer- ence is actually strong or weak. In order to really determine the best teams and to bring back mean- ingful bowl games, I recommend that we play all of the bowl games by Jan. 1, and on Jan. 2 have a real selection show to reveal the four teams that are deemed best after bowl games. It would be great to have the Big Ten and Pac-12 champions once again play in the Rose Bowl. It would make many bowl games meaningful and add a level of excitement that we haven't seen in years. Who would not be glued to their TV for "The Selection Show" on January 2? Steven F. Agran Via the Internet Dear The Wolverine: My Jan. 2 started with me feeling listless and melancholy, severely lack- ing "enthusiasm uncommon to man- kind." Over the 2017 season, I have come to recognize this experience as February 2018 • Vol. 29, No. 7 ISSN 1048-9940 Editor John Borton The Wolverine.com Editor Chris Balas Football Recruiting Writer Brandon Brown Staff Writers Austin Fox Andrew Vailliencourt Managing Editor Ryan Tice Contributing Editor Steve Downey Layout And Design Jeanette Blankenship Chris Miller Contributing Photographers Lon Horwedel Per Kjeldsen Cover Photo Lon Horwedel Publisher Stu Coman Business Manager Linda Autry Circulation Manager Gail Evans Marketing/Merchandise Manager Beverly Taylor Director Of Advertising Michelle Delee-Hamilton Customer Service Lauren Saunders The Wolverine is published monthly. We hired Gail Evans as our circulation manager in September of 1993. Since then, she has answered your calls, input your orders, sent you missed issues, changed your addresses, prepared mailing lists and pushed the post office to improve its deliv- ery of The Wolverine. What has stood out about Gail from day one is she cares about you, our customers. For the last 15 years, she has handled her duties while dealing with the painful effects of multiple sclerosis, never complaining and rarely missing work. This February, after over 24 years on the job, Gail will retire. We appreciate all she has done for our small company and wish her the best in the next stage of her life.
