FEBRUARY 2018 THE WOLVERINE 49 ners in the day-to-day work. A 300-meter practice track circles the exterior of the competition track, with a backstretch that loops under stands that can seat 2,000 — for competitions all the way up to anticipated Big Ten and national championship events. "There's no other facility like this in the world," Michigan track co-head coach James Henry insisted. "It's as Michigan's motto goes: 'Leaders and Best.' We have the best. We're the lead- ers in that regard, for that type of facil- ity. "No other facility has these types of amenities, and the two different types of tracks indoors." Henry is particularly excited about the chance to bring runners from all over the United States into Michigan's new home. He fully expects the reac- tion to be overwhelming. The 25,000-square-foot weight room will serve more than half of U-M's student- athletes — all but football, basketball and hockey, though the latter will occasionally train there.
