FEBRUARY 2018 THE WOLVERINE 53   MICHIGAN RECRUITING leticism. I can see why Michigan likes him so much. He's a big guy, and he is a phenomenal athlete. "You put some muscle on him and tune up his technique — you're going to want to keep your eye on that kid. He's a heck of a player." The U-M signees helped their squad pick up a 17-16 win over the East team. USA FOOTBALL INTERNATIONAL BOWL JAN. 19 • DALLAS Though not as hyped as the previ- ously discussed all-star games, the In- ternational Bowl allows future college players to represent their country. Five future Wolverines sported the stars and stripes against Canada in the U19 edi- tion of the International Bowl. Twin brothers German and Gemon Green out of DeSoto (Texas) High, Eu- reka (Mo.) High three-star running back Hassan Haskins, Hamden (Conn.) Hall Country Day School three-star tight end Luke Schoonmaker and Buford (Ga.) High three -star running back Christian Turner all competed against the Canucks. The 5-10, 180-pound Turner was the star of the show. He got the scoring started for Team USA on a 56-yard scamper just 39 seconds into the game. He also scored from a yard out later in the second half, and finished with a game-high 86 rushing yards on 11 carries. He also had two receptions for eight yards, and showed decent speed, good vision and the natural jump-cut ability you like to see in backs. He also fell forward on just about ev- ery carry he had backing up the claim that he can run with power despite being on the smaller side. Rivals has tabbed him as the No. 18 running back in the country, and he showed a lot of promise against the Canadians. Haskins also found the end zone from a yard out and showed his versatility as a receiver out of the backfield. He finished with seven rushing attempts for 26 yards and three catches for 32 yards. Two of his catches resulted in first downs and allowed him to show off his speed and power at 6-1, 207 pounds. German, the three-star safety and lower-rated Green twin, made an out- standing diving interception on a tipped pass in the first half and recorded three tackles (two solo). The 6-2, 178-pounder has been described as a more natural athlete than twin brother Gemon, but has to work on his technique and disci- pline. He's listed as a safety, but showed the ball skills that make him versatile all over in the secondary. Gemon didn't make a highlight play like German did, but he was around the ball several times on deep throws by Canada. He finished with two stops (one solo) and was credited with one pass broken up. Listed as a four-star cornerback at 6-2, 175 pounds, Gemon was lined up at corner throughout the night and only gave up one reception. Schoonmaker, a 6-6, 229-pounder, lined up at wide receiver several times, but wasn't targeted and also played H-back in the waning moments on straight handoffs to run out the clock. Schoonmaker's most impressive play was probably just running down the field to cover a punt. He was able to open it up and show the speed and run- ning stride that attracted the Michigan coaches to him during a satellite camp last summer. He's considered just the No. 36 tight end in the country by Ri- vals, but U-M has done well with under- the-radar, athletic tight ends like Sean McKeon and Zach Gentry. The American team rolled over Can- ada en route to a 47-7 win. POLYNESIAN BOWL JAN. 20 • AIEA, HAWAI'I Muhammad was able to show off his receiving skills as the lone future Wol- verine in the Polynesian Bowl, reeling in two catches for 36 yards. He was happy with his performance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience in Hawai'i. "It went well," he said. "I balled out, and the coaches gave me a lot of praise." Muhammad and the rest of Team Makai dominated Team Mauka en route to a 31-14 win. ❏ 2018 Michigan Commitment List Player Pos. Ht. Wt. Hometown (High School) Ronnie Bell WR 6-1 170 Kansas City, Mo.
