Michigan's overall 2015 recruiting
picture at the running back position
took as many twists and turns as did
the process of its eventual signee,
Karan Higdon.
In the summer of 2013, things
seemed set with a pledge from the
nation's top back, Berea (Ky.) Madi-
son Southern five-star Damien Har-
ris. Though Harris re-opened his re-
cruitment after the 2013 season (he
eventually signed with Alabama), an
obvious candidate stepped right in.
Detroit Cass Tech four-star Mike We-
ber — like Harris, a top-100 player in
the nation — remained committed to
the Maize and Blue throughout most
of the 2014 season, but ultimately
switched to Ohio State and signed
with the Buckeyes.
Enter Higdon. A one-time South
Florida commit from Sarasota (Fla.)
Riverview, he switched his commit-
ment to Iowa in October. When U-M
head coach Jim Harbaugh came call-
ing in January, he initially wasn't in-
terested in yet another re-opening
of his recruitment. In fact, he first
