he Michigan softball team has al-
ways started its seasons with more
oomph than expected from a midwest-
ern program relegated to practicing
indoors for the entirety of January.
Over the last five seasons, preceding
2015, U-M went 108-30 (.783 winning
percentage) during its February and
March tournaments in places like Ba-
ton Rouge, La.; Fullerton, Calif.; Louis-
