FOOTBALL RECRUITING
team after his junior season … Earned first-team all-
city honors from The Lexington Herald-Leader after
his sophomore and junior seasons.
Recruitment: Committed to Kentucky in October
of his junior season. Only offers were from Notre
Dame and Louisville … The Irish have stayed on him
despite his pledge to the in-state Wildcats, and he
has continued listening to the pitch … Announced
that he will officially visit Notre Dame Oct. 17, when
the Irish host USC.
BGI's Take: Robinson lacks one specific trait that
is elite, but he possesses above-average skills in
every department. He has good speed, which he
combines well with his length and quickness to excel
in man coverage. He also possesses fine instincts in
coverage and makes a lot of plays on the football.
He reads routes well, shows good anticipation and
knows when to look for the ball. He gets his hands
on a lot of passes. His technique is solid, although it
could use some work.
His combination of speed, agility and loose hips
allows him to play the cornerback position with
Lexington (Ky.) Henry Clay standout Davonte
Robinson is committed to Kentucky, but has con-
tinued listening to the Notre Dame's recruiting
pitch and will take an official visit to South Bend
Oct. 17.
