BASKETBALL RECRUITING is ranked as a four‑star prospect and the No. 40 overall player nationally by Rivals — is one of the program's top remaining frontcourt targets and plans to visit that weekend. "I'm really excited to get a better feel of Notre Dame and experience the atmosphere," said DeLaurier, who will be joined by his grandfather on the trip. Irish commitment Temple Gibbs Jr., a 6‑3, 185‑pound guard who is rated as the No. 64 player nationally by Ri‑ vals, will also be on hand that week‑ end. Gibbs Jr. said he plans to help the coaching staff try to net a commitment from DeLaurier. "Oh yeah, I'm going to recruit him," Gibbs Jr. said. "It's a great place, and he'd definitely fit in. It's right where he belongs. He's a great player, and we could do some amazing things to‑ gether." Gibbs Jr. has already been on cam‑ pus once, when he took an official visit over the weekend of May 2 and committed at the end of that trip. For his second journey to South Bend, he expects a slightly different feeling in the air. "Just getting back to campus and really seeing it again is a big reason for the trip — I loved it the first time," Gibbs Jr. said. "Going for a football game, I know it will be an entirely dif‑ ferent atmosphere up there. "I know that game will be really ex‑ citing, and it's something I want to see before I'm a freshman." While Gibbs Jr.'s recruiting process is wrapped up with his Notre Dame commitment, DeLaurier could take other visits past Notre Dame. He's al‑ ready taken unofficial trips to North Carolina and Louisville, among oth‑ ers, and has an official visit scheduled to Texas Sept. 11‑13. However, if his trip to South Bend goes exceptionally well, he wouldn't rule out making a decision. "I'm not against committing on a visit," DeLaurier said. "But I do think I'll take at least a couple of trips." Altamonte Springs (Fla.) Lake Brantley forward John Mooney will also take an official visit to campus the weekend of September. The 6‑10, 245‑pound senior is rated as a three‑ star prospect and the No. 132 overall player nationally by Rivals. Mooney committed to Florida and then‑head coach Billy Donovan in Sep‑ tember 2013, but reopened his recruit‑ ment Aug. 13 after Donovan left the program in April to join the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder. Mooney av‑ eraged 16.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game for Lake Brantley his junior year. KEVIN HUERTER EYEING SEPTEMBER VISIT While much of the focus remains on the frontcourt for the Irish staff, they're still devoting a high amount of attention to one backcourt target. Clifton Park (N.Y.) Shenendehowa guard Kevin Huerter displays the of‑ fensive skill set that's ideal for head coach Mike Brey's system, and that's one of several reasons he and his fam‑ ily are taking an official visit to cam‑ pus Sept. 25‑27. "Kevin needs to see the school, meet
