BASKETBALL RECRUITING but Huerter 's father denies that no‑ tion. "Notre Dame and Maryland are two schools that Kevin has great relation‑ ships with," Tom Huerter said. "But I think it would be very premature to say those are the frontrunners. "He's got a lot of quality programs that are interested in him, and it would be unfair to those schools to say Maryland and Notre Dame are the frontrunners. He likes those schools a lot from a distance, and that's why we need to get to those schools to take the next step." In addition to his Notre Dame visit, Huerter has also scheduled trips to Villanova Aug. 30‑31, Maryland (his second visit to that school) Sept. 4‑6, and Michigan Sept. 12‑14. Those visits all should be concluded by the start of October, at which point Huerter could have his decision in mind. Huerter was named Class AA sec‑ ond‑team all‑state by the New York State Sportswriters Association as a junior. He helped lead Shenendehowa to a 25‑1 overall record and the Class AA state championship while averag‑ ing 17.5 points per game. Friends Central School senior DeAn‑ dre Hunter — holds the exact same national ranking in the class of 2016. "I'm not really highly rated. Seeing a player can make it to the NBA from Notre Dame not being that highly rated, and the coaches can develop Rivals lists Wynnewood (Pa.) Friends Central School small forward DeAndre Hunter as the nation's No. 105 overall prospect. PHOTO BY KELLY KLINE/ADIDAS
