112 ■ THE WOLFPACKER WOLFPACK FOOTBALL situation at NC State and what I want out of my career. That's the basis of my decision." Shirreffs follows fifth-year senior Pete Thomas and redshirt sophomore Manny Stocker in quarterbacks transferring from NCSU. Thomas graduated this spring and is on to his third school at Louisiana-Monroe. He previously attended Colorado State for two years. Thomas started six games and played in nine for the Wolfpack, connect- ing on 149 of 247 throws for 1,667 yards with four touchdowns and nine intercep- tions. He also rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 72 carries. Stocker dropped down a level to the Football Championship Subdivision and transferred to Tennessee-Martin. He red- shirted last year at NC State. A few other former Wolfpack players have found new homes. Junior wide re- ceiver Charlie Hegedus walked-on to play for his home-state Georgia Bulldogs. Former NCSU defensive end Kender- ius Whitehead left NC State in 2012 and played at Georgia Military College in 2013. He transferred to Georgia Tech, where he'll have two years of eligibility. Redshirt sophomore cornerback Mar- chez Coates, who played cornerback for NC State, transferred to Iowa Western Community College. Pack Predictions Phil Steele's 2014 College Football Pre- view ranked NC State as the No. 58 team in the country in its "power poll," and pre- dicted the Wolfpack to finish fifth in the Atlantic Division. Lindy's picked NC State No. 61 overall in the country and fifth in the Atlantic Division. Athlon tabbed NC State to be the No. 65 team in the country out of 125 and sixth in the Atlantic Division of the ACC. Sporting News predicted the Wolfpack to finish sixth in the ACC. ■ ■ Projected 2014 NC State Depth Chart SPECIAL TEAMS Pos. No. Name Ht. Wt. Cl .
